The KRRC were the oldest of the British regiments to wear the green jacket. First raised in 1755 as the 62nd Royal American Regiment, the title changed to the 60th in 1756.
Four battalions of the 60th played a key role in the conquest of Canada 1758-60, in the French and Indian wars 1763-4 and the West Indies 1762-1809.
A fifth battalion raise for the French Revolutionary Wars, was half German Hompesch's Mounted Riflemen, and half English, and the green jacket derives from the German "Jager" meaning hunter.
